The purpose of this study is to gain increased knowledge of the educator’s view of the atelier as an asset in preschool activities. The purpose is to investigate how the educators work in the atelier as a learning environment and how they view the availability of the room and its prosperities in relation to children's development and learning through aesthetic learning processes.
Purpose and questions have been conducted through interviews with six educators at two different preschools. The results show that the educators see the atelier as an asset and that it is a stimulating learning environment for the children, but that there is limited time or place to use as much as they want. The educators see the atelier as a good learning environment, where clarity and inspiration are important. The educators describe that the atelier invites to conversations, social interactions and is a place that integrates several different subject areas for children to develop within. The educators describe that the atelier’s location is of great importance, that it should be close and accessible and that there is a lack of time to get there and make full use of the room.
