Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to analyze how teachers adapt their English teaching to students with advanced proficiency. The study builds on an interview study with six teachers who were currently teaching in years 4-6 and who all had the appropriate education. The results showed a number of different ways of teaching and all of them with positive results. Even if the teachers had diverse methods, the study show that the teacher needs to consider what support the student requires to develop and provide them with opportunities to develop through challenging, varying and stimulating activities adjusted to their needs. The results show that the teacher should have a positive attitude towards the subject, have good subject knowledge and be able to give each student the support that is required.
