Abstract [sv]

Detta är en kvalitativ studie vars syfte är att undersöka lärares syn på lässvårigheter och vilka metoder och strategier som används i klassrummet i årskurs 4-6 av lärare för att minska lässvårigheter. Genom att ha intervjuat fyra verksamma klasslärare har studien visat att omfattande kunskaper krävs för att motverka detta fenomen. Det som framkommer i studien är att varje enskild lärare måste ha ingående kunskaper om vilka orsaker som finns till lässvårigheter. Det innefattar fonologisk medvetenhet, avkodning, morfologiskt medvetenhet, generella lässvårigheter, motivation och familjenivå. Därtill behöver läraren kunskaper om olika arbetsmetoder och strategier i deras läsundervisning för att öka elevens läskompetens. Mot den bakgrunden har studien visat att helklassrumsundervisningen ska hålla en hög standardnivå, men att den emellanåt måste anpassas till individens behov. Slutligen visar studien att lärarens ämneskompetens inom det svenska språket är avgörande för att motverka fenomenet lässvårigheter inom skolväsendet.

Abstract [en]

This is a qualitative study which aim is to investigate teachers view, perspective of reading disabilities and which methods and strategies that are used in the classroom by teachers to minimize reading disabilities. By interviewing four teachers the study has shown that comprehensive studies are needed to counteract this phenomena. What emerges in the study is that every single teacher must have in-depth knowledge about what causes reading disabilities. That includes phonological awareness, decoding, morphological awareness, general reading difficulties, motivation and family level. As a result these causes are important to pay attention to early to reduce reading disabilities and take the right measures. The teacher also need knowledge about methods and strategies in their reading instructions to increase the student’s reading ability. Regarding to that background the study has shown that full class teaching shall have a high teaching standard but sometimes must be adapted to the individual's needs. Finally the study shows that the teachers competence of the subject regarding the Swedish language is crucial to counteract the phenomena reading disabilities within the school system.
