Studiens syfte är att bidra med kunskap om hur barn och vuxna skildras i en bilderbok utifrån ett intersektionellt maktperspektiv. Bilderboken som analyserats valdes genom ett kriteriebaserat urval av bilderböcker som läses ur ett demokratiperspektiv och som finns i appen Polyglutt som barnen på förskolan har tillgång till.

Metoden har varit kvalitativ textanalys med narratologi och semiotik så både text och bild har varit i fokus. De intersektionella perspektiven som beaktats vid analysen har varit etnicitet, ålder och genus för att se vilka konstruktioner av karaktärer som ges inflytande i boken. Resultatet visar att karaktärerna i de flesta fall framställs stereotypiskt beträffande kön. Det är den bråkiga pojken och den trygghetssökande flickan. I bilderboken som använts i studien är det kvinnor som arbetar på förskolan vilket påvisar traditionella könsmönster. Den som ges företräde utifrån ett intersektionellt perspektiv är en vit äldre pojke.

Bilderboken Bosse & Bella och trumpna Donald som använts i studien kräver att man samtalar om innehållet i boken för att väcka tankar och diskussioner angående de stereotyper som karaktärerna uppvisar. Förskolan har en viktig roll att arbeta med demokrati och inflytande för allas lika värde och kan använda bilderböcker som pedagogiska verktyg i undervisningen.

The purpose of the study is to contribute with knowledge of how children and adults are portrayed in a picture book from an intersectional power perspective. The picture book that was analyzed was selected through a criterion-based selection of picture books that are read from a democracy perspective and which is found in the app Polyglutt that the children at the preschool have access to.

The method has been qualitative text analysis with narratology and semiotics so both text and image have been the focus. The intersectional perspectives considered in the analysis have been ethnicity, age and gender to see which constructions of characters are given influence in the book. The result shows that in most cases the characters are portrayed as stereotypically gendered. It is the rowdy boy and the security-seeking girl. In the picture book used in the study, it is women who work at preschool which shows traditional gender patterns. The constructed as superior who is given preference from an intersectional perspective is a white older boy.

Preschool has an important role to work with democracy and influence for everyone´s equal value and can use picture books as educational tools in teaching.
