To study religion : A quantitative survey concerning upper secondary student´s opinion regarding religious education (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this piece of work is to find out if religious and non-religious students perceive religious education similarly and to understand the content that students wants their teacher to focus on. The work has been carried out quantitatively and I have distributed questionnaires, making students answer based on their experiences. The respondents were religious students in their 3rd year of upper secondary school and doing this I received 51 answers. The empiricism has been analyzed in an analysis program known as IBS SPSS Statistics, each in different ways. The results have shown that there is a significant connection between students that think religion is necessary as a school subject and if it is important in their own life. It also shows that there is a significant connection between how important it is when religious education talks about how religion effects human living and how important this is in a students life. The previous research shows that the Swedish religion education is too much at a face level and that the students wants to do more practical exercises. It also shows that there can be a difference between "religious students" and "non religious students" based on how they perceive the religious education. This information is in line with the result I got. The essay brings more clarity on how students, believers and non-believers, wants the Swedish religious education to look like. It shows that students wants to have more discussions in the classroom and also talk about everyday subject, for example food, holidays and upbringing connecting to different religions.
