Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine whether there is a correlation between job satisfaction (Extrinsic, intrinsic and general MSQ/Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire) and the attitude of primary school teachers towards cooperation with parents with foreign origins (ATS). Additionally, another aim was to investigate if the background variable, experience of students with foreign origins, predicts the attitudes of primary school teachers towards cooperation with parents with foreign origins. A web-based survey was sent to five different Facebook groups which were addressed to primary school teachers in Sweden. The study was conducted on a total of 173 primary school teachers (women). The collected data was analyzed through two Pearson’s correlation coefficients and a regression analysis in SPSS. The results could not demonstrate a significant correlation between teachers' MSQ and ATS. The results indicated however a weak but positive significant correlation between teachers' experiences of foreign origins students and their ATS. Further, this significant correlation contributed to the predicting of ATS. This significant relationship contributed to predicting 2.2% of the variance in ATS. The conclusion is that the MSQ and ATS of primary school teachers have no relation with each other. The teachers' experience of students with foreign background predicted ATS with very low explanatory values, which means that the predictions have no significance for ATS. ATS could therefore be explained by other factors, as well as studies relevant to implementation.

Abstract [sv]

Syftet var att undersöka om det finns ett samband mellan arbetstillfredsställelse (Inre, yttre och generell MSQ/Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire) och grundskollärares attityd till samverkan med föräldrar som har utländsk bakgrund (ATS). Ett annat syfte var att se om bakgrundsvariabeln, erfarenhet av elever med utländsk bakgrund, predicerar grundskollärarnas attityd till samverkan med föräldrar som har utländsk bakgrund. En webb-enkätundersökning skickades till fem olika Facebook-grupper som riktade sig till grundskollärare i Sverige. Studien gjordes på totalt 173 grundskollärare (kvinnor). Insamlade data analyserades med hjälp av två Pearson´s korrelationskoefficienter och en enkel regressionsanalys som utfördes i SPSS. Resultatet visade att det inte fanns något signifikant samband mellan ATS och generell MSQ/MSQ. Resultatet indikerade dock ett signifikant svagt positivt samband mellan grundskollärarnas erfarenheter av elever med utländsk bakgrund och deras ATS. Detta signifikanta samband bidrog vidare till att predicera 2,2 % av variansen i ATS. Slutsatsen är att grundskollärarnas MSQ och ATS inte har någon relation med varandra. Lärarnas erfarenhet av elever med utländsk bakgrund predicerade ATS med väldigt lågt förklaringsvärde vilket medför att prediktoren inte har någon stor betydelse för ATS. ATS kunde således förklaras av andra faktorer så är vidare studier relevanta att genomföras.
