The purpose for this study is to investigate how teachers inspire their students to read more and what kind of methods the teachers use in their lessons. I am using a quantity survey as a method in order to investigate the teachers own experiences and students interests in reading. One survey was answered by teachers who are working in middle school and teach students the subject Swedish. Another survey was issued to students to answer about their various reading habits, what kind of reading material they use while reading and what kind of texts they read on their own. The result from this study shows that students are positive towards reading and they want a reading role model in a teacher or other adults. Teachers uses different types of methods to inspire their pupils to read more. Some of these methods have a more positive effect than others. The result shows that reading out loud is a popular method that teachers uses that has gain the most effect on students interest in reading.

I denna studie undersöker jag hur lärare bedriver läsundervisningen för att öka elevernas intresse till att läsa mer. Det är fokus på vilka metoder lärare använder sig av samt vilka typer av texter eleverna läser. Jag använder mig av en kvantitativ enkät för att undersöka lärarnas erfarenheter och elevernas läsintresse. En enkät besvarades av lärare som undervisar i mellanstadiet som undervisar i ämnet svenska. En annan enkät besvarades av elever som fick svara på frågor som läsvanor, vad för typ av material de använder när de läser och vilka typer av texter de läser av egen fri vilja. Resultatet från denna undersökningen visar att elever är positivt inställda till läsning och gärna har en läsande förebild i form av en vuxen. Lärare använder olika typer av metoder för att inspirera sina elever till mer läsning. Vissa av dessa metoder har en mer positiv effekt än andra. Resultatet visar att högläsning är en populär metod som lärare använder sig av som har gett störst effekt på elevernas läsintresse.
