Abstract [sv]

Deskriptiva analyser inklusive Chi-två test genomfördes i SPSS.

Abstract [en]

Well-being is important for young people as well as managing the educational goals because it´s an important aspect of personal health, but also because education is a strong component of public health. Currently, society can’t mobilize to a sufficient extent to prevent young people from developing mental illness. Mental illness among young people is growing, and more young people experience school stress while school performance is decreasing. Purpose: To study the wellbeing of young people by focusing on the relationship between well-being, relationships, lifestyle factors and gender differences. Method: The present study has a quantitative approach. Data was obtained from the student health database ELSA. Descriptive analysis including Chi-2 tests were conducted in SPSS. The correlation analysis was made between the well-being and 14 selected variables. Result: The result indicates that young people in 7th grade in Värmland experience well-being to a high degree. A clear majority finds that they often or every day feel good. There are significant relationships between well-being, feelings of satisfaction, good relationships and good living habits. Gender differences exist. Conclusion: It is essential for young people to feel well-being, that life is perceived as comprehensible, meaningful, and manageable. Well-being increases the likelihood of having relationships, good living habits and succeed in school. Well-being and education are both part of personal health, but also a strong component of good public health.
