Syftet med studien är att undersöka vilka semiotiska resurser en slagverkare använder mig av vid instudering av ett nytt stycke samt undersöka hur slagverkaren designat sina övningspass med fokus på olika övningsstrategier. För att undersöka detta har jag under en fyraveckorsperiod instuderat ett multipercussionstycke och dokumenterat detta genom videoobservationer och loggboksanteckningar. Arbetet genomsyras av det designteoretiska perspektivet. I resultatet redovisas hur jag designat min övning genom planering, genomförande och utvärdering. De semiotiska resurserna som givits till känna är kroppen, instrumentet, notation, metronom och redskap i form av klubbor och stockar. I diskussionen debatteras resultatet i förhållande till tidigare relevant litteratur.

The purpose of this study is to examine witch semiotic resources a percussionist uses while rehearsing a new piece and how the percussionist designs the individual music practice with focus on different practice strategies. In order to realize this have I under a four-week long period rehearsed a multi-percussion piece and documented the process by a video recording device and log writing. The study is permeated by the theoretical perspective of design theory. The results show how I as a percussionist have designed the individual practice by planning, realisation and evaluation. The semiotic resources that have been observed is the body, instrument, notation, metronome and gear known as mallets and sticks. In the last chapter, a discussion is made between the result and the background chapter.
