Abstract [en]

The purpose of this master´s thesis is to identify boys percecived motivation and achievement in science and technical education in comparison with girls. I will also investigate what current research says about what education benefits and motivates boys. The essay is based on a quantitative empirical survey with 196 students from three schools from the grades 3, 5, and 7 in a small municipality in Sweden. During the years there has been many efforts in projects in science and technology. The results show that boys generally have slightly higher level of motivation and performance in comparison to girls. An increased motivation rate for boys can contribute to a better working environment in the classroom and lead to both girls and boys increasing their performance.
