It´s just to copy : A study of conditions for learning and memorizing melodies (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study examines my ability to collect, imitate and memorize melodies by listening to different songs through eight different methods for by-ear learning. The songs in the study belong to the folk music genre and their melodic structures varies to provide information about however different melodic patterns has effect on my learning ability. The main focus of this study is to investigate how different methods for by-ear learning affects my interpretation of the learning situation and to approach an understanding about my conditions for by-ear learning. The study comes to the conclusion that the lyrics of a song and my experience of validity connected to the song plays a main part in my learning process. In the discussion of this study learning by-ear and its different definitions are lifted together with how a social environment and its approach towards music can have effect on a persons motivation for learning. The study is prosecuted from a hermeneutic perspective.
