Abstract [en]

This essay is about the way parents are involved in school at AB Zambodla School, Lingelihle a black township, South Africa. It contains a qualitative study of interviews with one teacher, principal and parent. The main cause for this investigation is to see, as a becoming teacher, how you can work with parents influence in school and how the parents’ engagement affects learners’ results in school. It is also interesting to see how different cultures work with parents influence in school. The result of this study shows that they are active in working with parents influence in school at Zambodla, with a hope of increasing the cooperation. The investigation shows that the school are positive about parents in school and the school will not work without this component of parents. The cooperation mainly works thru a school governing body were parents and school staff are members. The school governing body is in charge of the school economy and decision making. They all consent that parents’ engagement in school is important for the learners’ results and they see it clearly in the daily work of the children. A good cooperation between parents and school is important in many ways; a good relation with parents gives the children conditions to develop and learn more. Parents’ positive or negative attitudes towards school will reflect thru the children as they are like mirrors of their parents. Key words: Parents cooperation, school, South Africa.
