The paper focuses on the differences between indoor and outdoor education in the discipline of technics with the stress on participation. The purpose of the investigation is to find out if there are any differences in the amount of participation between the level pupils being taught indoors or outdoors. The questions are: Are there any differences in the participation of the pupils taught outdoors or indoors in the discipline of technics? Is the planning of an indoor lesson different to an outdoor do? The investigation, witch has a qualitative approach is accomplished through observations of four senior level pupils completed with an interview with their teacher of technics. The result of the investigation shows that the participation level was high in both groups. Differences in participation have not been observed. The planning of an indoor or outdoor lesson must not be different; the experience of the educating teacher tends to have a key function. Uppsatsen behandlar skillnader mellan undervisning inom- och utomhus i ämnet teknik, med speciellt fokus på delaktighet. Syftet med undersökningen är att se om jag finner några skillnader i elevernas delaktighet. Frågeställningarna i arbetet är: Är det någon skillnad i högstadieelevers delaktighet under en inomhuslektion och en utomhuslektion i ämnet teknik? Skiljer sig planeringen åt i ämnet teknik mellan en utomhus- och en inomhuslektion? Undersökningen som har en kvalitativ ansats genomfördes med elevobservationer av fyra högstadieelever samt en intervju med deras lärare i ämnet teknik. Resultatet av undersökningen visade att delaktigheten hos eleverna var hög under både inomhus- och utomhuslektionerna. Det var dock svårt att fastställa några direkta skillnader i delaktighet i undersökningen. Planeringen inför en inomhus- och utomhus lektion behöver inte skilja sig åt, det avgörande i detta fall är erfarenheten hos den undervisande läraren.
