Abstract [en]

This study describes an alternative pedagogy and illustrates an alternative to the traditional teaching. The Bifrost pedagogy has been generally described where after the methods for teaching “knowledge of nature” within the Bifrost-inspired has been examined. The study is based partly on litterature and partly on observations made during my field practise at a Bifrost inspired school. Key issues in the study are: 1. How is the teaching within “knowledge of nature” organised in the Bifrost-inspired school? 2. Are the goals stated in the Swedish guidelines reached if the teaching is carried out in a Bifrost-inspired manner? The main findings when studying the Bifrost-inspired school are: The teaching in “knowledge of nature” is integrated with other subjects in work shops. The teaching in “knowledge of nature” is relating to everyday problems and fenomenas The pupils are to a high extent framing the questions and searching the answers themselves. The original Bifrost pedagogy as inventad in Denmark was not utilising any central guidelines. The Bifrost-inspired school in Sweden hovewer, is operating in accordance with the guidelines established for the traditional school. No specific feature of the Bifrost pedagogy is expected to inhibit the achievement of the goals within “knowledge of nature” as stated in the central guidelines. Finally the question wether a Bifrost-inspired pedagogy is more suitable for teaching within the Swedish subject “Naturkunskap i vardagen” (“knowledge of nature in daily duties”) Keywords: ”Knowledge of nature”, Bifrost-inspired teaching, Goals stated in the Swedish guidelines, Knowledge of nature (Naturkunskap i vardagen)

Abstract [sv]

Denna studie behandlar en alternativ pedagogik och belyser ett alternativt arbetssätt till den traditionella undervisningen. Bifrostpedagogiken har beskrivits allmänt varefter arbetsmetoderna inom den Bifrostinspirerande skolans NO – undervisning utvärderats. Studien baseras dels på litteraturstudier, dels på observationer gjorda under min verksamhetsförlagda utbildning på en Bifrost inspirerad skola. Centrala frågeställningar i studien är: 1. Hur ser NO undervisningen ut i den Bifrostinspirerade skolan? 2. Uppnås de svenska styrdokumentens mål i NO om man arbetar Bifrostinspirerat? Huvudresultatet i studien av den Bifrost inspirerade skolan är att : NO undervisningen bedrivs ämnesintegrerat i s.k. verkstäder. NO-undervisningen knyter an till vardagliga problemställningar och fenomen. Eleverna får i stor omfattning formulera frågeställningar själva och därefter söka svar. Bifrost undervisningen sådan den ursprungligen var i Danmark saknar läroplan. Den Bifrostinspirerade skolan i Sverige arbetar dock efter styrdokumentens mål. Inget inslag i Bifrost pedagogiken bedöms motverka eller försvåra att styrdokumentens mål i NO uppnås. Slutligen diskuteras om en Bifrostinspirerad pedagogik är mera lämpad för undervisning inom ämnet ”Naturkunskap i vardagen”.
