This study describes the students’ situation in flexible learning. In a literature study there is a discussion about flexible learning, its background, how you can look upon it from different angles, and different forms of flexibility. The examination is a qualitative interview with six students at the municipal adult education. The students describe their goals and intentions, the methods that are used, what influence they have on their education and how their study environment is. The result shows that there is a need for more flexibility at all levels to provide for the great number of students’ preferences concerning time, method, place and content. The students’ goals are to get the certificate to continue their studying and get back to the working life. Which methods are used depends mainly on the subject. The students’ influence on the education seems to be quite little.The study also shows the need for good study environment and social support. The study environment seems to be good, with one exception, but students with a family have difficulties in finding a good study environment at home.

Föreliggande uppsats beskriver elevers situation i det flexibla lärandet. I en litteraturstudie diskuteras flexibelt lärande, dess bakgrund, hur man kan se på det ur olika synvinklar och olika former av flexibilitet som kan förekomma. Undersökningen är upplagd som en kvalitativ intervju med sex elever på komvux. Eleverna har fått beskriva de mål och intentioner de har med sina studier, vilka arbetsformer som förekommer, i vilken mån de kan påverka kursupplägg och hur deras studiemiljö ser ut. Resultatet visar på behovet av mer flexibilitet på alla nivåer för att tillgodose den mångfald av behov som elever har vad gäller tid, metod, plats och innehåll. Elevernas mål är att få betyg för att läsa vidare och komma tillbaka till arbetsmarknaden. Den metod man använder styrs i huvudsak av vilket ämne man läser. Elevernas inflytande på utbildningen förefaller vara låg. Vidare visar uppsatsen på behovet av god studiemiljö och bra socialt stöd. Studiemiljön på skolorna verkar vara god med ett undantag medan elever med familj har svårt att få en tillfredsställande studiemiljö hemma.
