2005 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (professional degree)Student thesis
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

When I did this research I wanted to form true picture of how the practical mathematics can works in grade 3 and 4. I selected two classes, where I did classroom and individual observations. I also conducted two interwies whit the teachers, about their attitudes towards the work whit the practical mathematics. The research observations showed that the pupils experienced the material and the method of working as positive. The pupils studied on their own level, and experienced that they were able to succeed. The result of two interwies showed that the teachers thought that the practical mathematics should take up larger deal of the mathematics learning space. But at the same time, the teachers experienced that it was necessary to use the textbooks to the full extent as they were, in order for the pupils to reach their goals.
