In this essay I would like to show the advantages of daily usage of exercise when you work with children in a classroom. I wanted to know what difference it made in the pupils’ achievements, concentration ability, mood and attitude etc. when they were allowed to exercise compared to sit still and work for a week. I introduced pause exercise, short exercises five times a day in a class of 13 eleven year olds. The children also took two written tests, gave an interview, filled in forms about the school day and their parents answered an opinion poll. Children should take part in some form of exercise every day. Most of my sources agree on the advantages with daily exercise in the classroom. The cons are the difficulties in keeping the exercises on a good level for each child. It also steals time from other education, but on the other hand it pays back when the children work better together and become more harmonic and calm. My pause exercises affected the children’s mood, they are more often weary, tired and angry during the week when we sat still. But the most surprising result is that they did better on the written test on the week when we sat still. I have been favored in reading so much on this subject. I have been given more ideas of pause exercises and more examples of using it in the future. Key words: exercise, classroom, mood
