When I went to publicschool we almost never wrote stories or fairytales. As a teacher I want to show the children the joy and happiness of writing. My wish is to see the children create stories, write in their diaries, write letters or what ever they like to write. I want to teach the children the art of creative writing and have many ideas of how to do so. How ever it has shown to be much more difficult than I thought. The purpose of this report is to see how teachers work with creative writing in our schools and how the pupils experience their own work. I chose to interview six teachers and eighteen pupils, age six to eleven, from two schools in one of Sweden largest cities. I prepared a few questions to help me find answers to my question about the art of teaching children how to write. Do the teachers work with creative writing? Do they think it’s important that children write? Do the children know why they must learn to write? I found that the teachers work with creative writing in different ways. They all find it very important to teach the pupils to write. Furthermore the pupil likes to write but not all of them know why it’s important to learn to write. I want the reader to see the joy with writing. When I begun this report I thought that creative writing was a way to write without any regulations. Now I can see that there most be some regulations in the work with creative writing. Keywords: Creative writing, didactics, spelling teaching
