This essay is focusing on Tibetan Buddhist nuns and facts about them in chosen Swedish schoolbooks for later years in compulsory school. The purpose is to illuminate these nuns situation and to discuss what is relevant to bring up in the teachings of religion in Swedish compulsory school. In the chosen textbooks is nothing mentioned about Tibetan Buddhist nuns and there for have facts about these women and the tradition they belong to first been obtained. The discussion after that is about what is relevant to bring up in the teachings of the subject. A four week long study tour to Dharamsala in India, where Dalai Lama has his resident and where many Tibetans lives in exile, is behind the research. Literature studies, visits and interviews have all contributed with knowledge about these women and their role in the society.
