Pedagogers arbetssätt med barn som har autism och autismliknande tillstånd
2004 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (professional degree)Student thesis
Abstract [en]

Children with autism and autism spectrum disorders usually have problems when associate with other people. They don’t understand the social rules, it's difficult to communicate with others and they have restrictions in behavior, games and activities. These children need limits, regularity and routines to follow. They also need to structure their environment, it makes it easier for them to understand what's happening around them and through this they will have an increased consciousness. Youth recreation centers for children should offer the special support, the right to assistance and the special pedagogy that the children need for getting the most meaningful occupation as possible. The aim of my study is to become absorbed in the situation for children with autism and autism spectrum disorder on Youth recreation centers. I also want to find out which working program educationists use for giving those children the most meaningful (stimulating?) occupation as possible. I choosen to interview four educationists who are working at Youth recreation centers and at schools for handicapped children. My study shows that children with autism and autism spectrum disorders don't get the special support that they need at the Youth recreation centers. It looks different at schools for handicapped children, they got the special support. The differences depends for example on that the educationists don’t have any or to little supervision from professionals, they don't have enough time to plan their work and the workplace is not organized.
