The purpose of this paper is to find out which importance play has in teaching today for children with autism. The results of the investigation are based on interviews with teachers who works with children with autism. I chose a qualitative interview as my investigation method because then I could get the teachers to say what they really wanted to say. I interviewed four teachers from four different schools in to different cities. They all worked with children with autism since a couple of years. The main results of the interviews is that if the teachers do not cooperate the teaching will not work. Also cooperation between the school and the parents favours everybody involved. All teaching do not suit all children with autism. The role of play in teaching is not a subject that the teachers have reflected on. According to the teachers I have interviewed, play is pleasure and motivation. But still play is not a subject in school everyday. All children can learn to play with the right support.
