This essay is about the Montessori method, and how it can be used as an inspiration for teaching in a Swedish school. It is mainly about whether the Aesthetic is important for learning in a randomly selected school’s teaching. To find out about this, I have looked at what this method is all about, what the Teacher’s role is, how the surroundings are, how the teaching is done and what the selected school thinks about the Aesthetic in all its forms. To find out about the Aesthetic meaning in a Montessori inspired school, I visited the selected school two times. There I interviewed two Teachers. I also got the opportunity to attend in their classrooms for observation of their way of working. These two Teachers have worked inspired by Maria Montessori for many years. Maria Montessori was the woman who developed this method. With help from literature in this subject and my investigation at the school, I have come to a conclusion. There is a lot of practical work and each individual student works at its own level. A lot of the working in the school is done with help from the senses. Especially the senses of sight and feeling. Therefore I think that the Aesthetic forms are important in a Montessori inspired way of teaching.
