Abstract [en]

All the children in the world have one thing in common, they play! Play is something we se and get in contact with everywhere, in lectures, in newspapers and in literature concerning children, school an development. The great school reforms during the 1990:s increased the attention for the place of children’s play in education at nursery schools and schools. The educational agendas says that play should be a part of every child’s school day and an ingredient in each subject. There for it’s important that all the school personal gets an understanding of what play is and its importance for children’s development and learning. This study is based on studies of literature and interwievs of active teathers in school, and it’s meant to answer questions concerning - What is play? - What signifigance does play have for children’s development and learning? - How is play used in school? The result of the study shows that play is very important to everyone. When children play they process their experiences. They develop their social ability, their fantasy and they get to know their self and creates an own world. When children play they get an understanding for the world and the people around them.
