In the last years girls and young women have been more noticed both in research and in practice. A part of this process has been to start special projects addressed to this target group. In this study we have tried to answer how leaders of conversation groups for girls work and how they look upon their work and leadership. We have also tried to answer how the leaders look at the function of this type of groups. We have done a qualitative study with the method of induction. We have made five interviews with leaders of conversation groups from Ellen-projektet (The Ellen project) which is organized by Rädda Barnen (Save The Children) in Karlstad. The results of our study are presented by the following categories; Education and Recruitment, Goals and important issues, Leadership, Difficulties of being a leader, A rewarding work, Leadership and Conversation groups for girls – an important forum. The results show that the leaders are influenced by a special method of working. The results also show that the leaders think that their work is rewarding even if there are difficulties. The results show that the leaders believe that conversation groups for girls are important. In the analysis the results are, for example, tested upon theories about groups and leadership.
