Stenreliefer i Botilsäters, Forshems och Gjöls kyrkor - en jämförande studie
2005 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]

I have described and compared the stone-reliefs in the three romanesque churches in Botilsäter, Forshem and Gjöl. I have also analysed which stonecutter who could have done the different reliefs. The conclusion of my studies is that the art in each church is made by different artists. My motive is following: The tympan in Botilsäter is about fifty years younger than the reliefs in Forshem and can obviously not been done by the same artist. The artist in Forshem has done beautiful pictures. His motives are static described and done with an enormous precision. Mäster Göti, in Gjöl, is preaching his stone-message about a kind and forgiving God and he is doing it with happiness and a glimpse in his eye. The three originators will always be unknown for us. They have done unique masterpieces, each of them in a different way.
