Abstract [en]

This is a qualitative study about how school leaders think about and understand learning organizations. In the study there are also some thoughts about how learning organizations affect what one do as a school leader in the daily work. There are two investigations, the first one is based on conceptual maps and the result of that investigation leads further to an interview survey. The result shows that every informant understands learning organization together with his or her own background and the individual function as school leader. That means that there is no mutual clear understanding of learning organization among these informants. They share bits and pieces when they describe the concept in itself, but when they put it into daily work it appears in different directions.
