This study is about how pedagogical staff, working in primary and secondary school, look upon school leadership. It is a survey with quantitative data out of a questionnaire. All the respondents represent all primary and secondary schools in one local community in Sweden. Previous research shows possible dilemmas in the meeting between the pedagogical leadership of the principal and the pedagogical leadership of the teacher. In the classroom the teacher is responsible for the teaching and the school leader should not interfere with that teaching. One of the findings in earlier studies shows that many teachers do not really know what the school leader actually do in his or her work. The result of this study shows that this staff, mostly teachers, wants a school leader who visits them in their classrooms and supports them more than challenge their pedagogical work. The result also shows that there is a variety of demands directed towards the school leaders. A conclusion of this study is that these respondents prefer a good listener and a nice social person to support their work, more then a challenging pedagogic leader or a good administrator.
