Barn, TV- och videovåld - påverkas barn av TV- och videovåld?
2003 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]

This essay focuses on TV- and videoviolence and its influence on children. The main topic discuses if children really are effected by the violence they see on TV and video. Two minor questions have been illustrated in purpose to further develop the mainquestion. Another purpose of this essay was to look into the differences between how boys and girls are effected by TV-and videoviolence. To answer these questions, a qualitative method were used, which took form in intervjues with 20 children. The interviewed were randomly picked and intervjued in pairs or in groups of five. Teachers were also intervjued in group. The purpose was to produce a discussion about the subject. The purpose was also to get the teachers apprehension if the children are influenced by violence on TV and video. An analysis was made out of the intervjues and litterature consurning the subject. The main theories in this essay are socialisation- and Katharsistheory. The results of the analysis showed that children are effected by the TV- and videoviolence. They are also effected by the violence in TV-games. The effects shows by the way they play and imitates. Boys and girls are not being effected in the same way. The boys showed a stronger tendence to use violence when they were playing and they tend to imitate more from TV and video. Violence also seems to be more like a statussymbol and a confirmation for them, the fact that they really are boys.
