3D-effekter i film
2002 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this essay is to map the historic background of computer generated effects in film and at the same time find out how these effects are used today. With these aspects in mind we will speculate about the future. We have done interviews with people in the 3D effects business and the film industry. The questions that we have asked are about history, hardware, software, economy and the future. The use of 3D techniques in films is different depending on which part of the world the producers work in. At this time the usage of 3D techniques in film is not so common in Sweden as it is in the US. The thing that makes the difference is money. When there is no money, 3D effects cannot develop at a desirable pace. However, there are some developments and often the combination of 2D and 3D is used in the effects. Only the future can tell how it’s really going to be. Keywords: 3D techniques in film Computer generated images 3D effects CGI VFX
