The purpose of this Thesis is to describe the informationflow at Statens Räddningsverk (the Swedish board of rescue services). We describe in the Thesis what channels are available for recieve, give and search information and how the channels are used and perceived. The Thesis starts with a description of Statens Räddningsverk followed by a theoretical discussion. The theoretical discussion includes a section about internal communication and also organization theory. The reason for this is that organization structure and culture affects the communicationflow within the organization. To answer up to our purpose we have choosen a qualitative methode. We have conducted interviews with managers and employees within Statens Räddningsverk. We have also done a channel analysis. The reason for choosing this method is also described and motivated in the Thesis. In order to spend the available time for this Thesis with a good quality we have limited our work to discuss the internal communication within Statens Räddningsverk central organization in Karlstad. Our finding is that e-mail is the most used channel (sometimes to much) to receive internalinformation. The intranet, GemNet, is widely used to search for information. Meetings are also a source for information, but certain meetings are only one-way communication. Many of our respondents, both amongst managers and employees are asking for a better structure in the internal communication at Statens Räddningsverk. In our opinion this could be solved by making a policy for internal communication which also can solve problems/issues when it is unclear what information should be given and what information should be search by the individuals. Further a policy can also have other positive effects.
