Is there a connection between young adults self- esteem, optimism and satisfaction of life? : A quantitative questionnaire-study (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study is based on a quantitative survey in which participants had to answer a questionnaire about how they feel about their situation in life. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there was a connection between young adults, self-esteem, optimism and satisfaction with life. The sample consisted of a sample availability. The participants eventually became a total of 106. The variable of gender were evenly divided. The women had an average age of 26.1 years and the men had an average age of 25.2 years.

The statistical analysis was done with parametric tests, Pearson product-moment correlationcoefficient and regression analysis. The study found a significant positive correlation between optimism and life satisfaction. Since there was also a positive correlation between optimism and self-esteem,

the condition to perform a multiple regression analysis broke. A simple regression analysis were done, where the predictor variable, self- esteem, stood against the dependent variable, life satisfaction, which demonstrated significant results. The result shows that this study can be supported in other research also emphasizes that self-esteem and life satisfaction are related.
