: A survey study about adult attachment and attitudes to crime (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

A quantitative study (based on a survey for the collection of data) was completed to investigate any connection between adult attachment and attitudes towards criminality. Further along an investigation of whether an anxiety loaded and avoiding attachment could be the predictors of attitudes to criminality. The study is based on the answers of 151 participators over the age of 18. An electronic survey was created in Survey and Report and was later published in different closed groups on Facebook. The tool Experience in close relationship revised (ECR-R) was used to measure adult attachment and an instrument called The Measures of Criminal Attitudes and Associates (MCAA) was used to measure explicit attitudes to violence, criminal intention, criminal justification and criminal friends. The result of the study showed a positively significant connection between criminal conjunction, anxiety loaded and avoiding attachment. The result also showed a positively significant connection between attitudes to criminal friends and anxiety loaded and avoiding attachment. The result showed no connection between attitudes to violence, criminal justification, anxiety loaded and avoiding attachment. Further on two multiple analyzes of regression was made where the dependent variables was attitudes to criminal conjunction and criminal friends. Predictor variables where anxiety loaded and avoiding attachment. The result showed that anxiety loaded attachment was a significant predictor for attitudes to criminal intention and avoiding attachment was a significant predictor for attitudes to criminal friends. There fore the conclusion was drawn to be that the attitudes of individuals towards criminal intent and criminal friends is to some extent explained by anxiety loaded and avoiding attachment.
