Solfège as ear training method in violin studying : A self observation (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

My project is about studying a piece of music using solfège as an ear training method, and traditional methods. The purpose of the study is to compare the benefit of the solfège method in relation to traditional methods while studying music pieces on the violin. The research question is: In which ways is solfège a resource when studying violin pieces compared to traditional study methods? In the background chapter, concepts that are important to the topic presented like solfège, solmization and the Kodàly method are addressed. In that chapter there are also facts about the perspective of design theory. In the method chapter the methods that are used in the study are presented, such as video observations and log book. In the results chapter the results of the analysis that have been made of studying a violin piece with the method of solfège and traditional methods are presented. The themes presented are intonation, rhythm, duration and resources. The discussion especially highlights the use of solfège as a method for studying a violin piece.
