Swedish project management in multicultural projects - in what ways could communication become an obstacle to project achieving its goal?
2004 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]

The aim of this thesis is to look into how communication is gathered, handled, processed and passed over from one person to another in Swedish sponsored international projects. It aims to define communication in general and communication in such companies where language of communication differs from one person to the other. It is also important to know how such laps in communication are bridged and understood between people involved in such projects. In short this would be a qualitative based research that would show the efficiency of communication and the difficulty involved in multicultural projects. It is therefore intended to elaborate on the quality of communication and the implications that lack of proper communication could course in projects of multicultural and multilingual nature. The aim is further to study with whom one communicates, about what and how communication occurs and that is through what channels? To be able to achieve my aim, I would be conducting interviews with people in such organizations who have the responsibility of dealing with communication and information transaction. Therefore, the empirical facts to be presented here would be based on the literature from other sources and the answers to my questions.
