Datorstöd - ett pedagogiskt verktyg

Abstract [en]

To enable a successful use of computers in an educational sense there are many factors to be considered. That computers should be self-evident in schools of today is to us totally natural. A use of computers shouldn’t only depend on trends; instead there are several pedagogical effects that can be gained by the use of computers. One main benefit, as we see it, is the possibility to be able to vary ones educational methods. It feels interesting to investigate if computer-aided education actually is used in upper secondary schools. In this study we’ve gathered our data through the use of questionnaires. These questionnaires have been sent to ten different upper secondary schools in Wermland. We have also performed a few personal interviews at these schools, this as a complement to the questionnaire, to be able to ask more specific questions and also as a follow up. This line of approach is more efficient, since we at the same time can understand the teacher’s actual attitude by reading his/her facial expressions, body language and tone of voice. It is also of significance for us to investigate how upper secondary school teachers use computer-aid, which in our view, is one of many pedagogical tools that teachers of today can use. Nevertheless, there are many different factors to why or why not teachers or schools make use of the computer. One important aspect, which influences the use of computers as an educational tool, is not only the teacher’s personal attitude to computers, but also the schools financial position. To enable easy access to computers, the amount of computers at each school should be satisfactory and there should also be a budget for the furthering of teachers computer skills.
