Outsourcingprojekt inom IT-industrin - vad är viktigt att tänka på för att ett outsourcingprojekt skall lyckas?
2004 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]

During the last few years outsourcing has become the new trend in the information technology business. The reason for this is of course, that companies, through outsourcing, can cut cost. Outsourcing is also used as a mean to increase the companies’ competitive advantage and to get access to the most skilled personnel in all areas of business. Globalization and the increased competitiveness on today’s market turn up the pressure on businesses if they want to stay competitive. In our thesis we strive to find out what companies that choose outsourcing and outsourcing partners should do to avoid problems and accomplish wanted results. In the study we interview both types of companies to get a complete coverage of the problems that can occur. The motives for and reasons to outsource vary, some of importance are: Improve company focus on its core business Access to world class competence Reduce and control operating costs Free resources for other needs Increase advantages with products and product development Free capital for investments in core business Spreading the risk Outsourcing can have its risks, something one should be aware of. There are several areas in an outsourcing project that can go wrong. The highest risk for problems to occur happens during the integration and transition phase, when companies leave their division to the outsourcing partner. The complexity of problems can concern differences in company culture and the way problems are dealt with.
