Usability design of WAP-services in vehicles
2001 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]

This study addresses safety and design issues for mobile Internet in cars. We investigate what the EU-commission and the Swedish National Road Administration have to say about safety and computers in a traffic environment. We also investigate how one should design for good usability in a driving situation; we design a navigation structure for a WAP mail service. To test this service we built a simple prototype with post-it tags, and let the test persons perform different tasks while commenting on what they were doing. From the evaluation of these tests we built a new prototype, which a usability-designer gave his opinion on. The conclusion is that interaction with information systems is possible while driving, and it can be done in a relatively safe way.
