Abstract [sv]

Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka uppfattningen om pedagogisk närläsning som metod med utgångspunkt i Litteraturbankens material. Föremål för textanalysen är ett utdrag ur Selma Lagerlöfs roman Kejsarn av Portugallien, kapitlet ”Den röda klänningen”. I studien har gymnasielärare i svenska, liksom totalt sex gymnasieklasser som läser svenska ett, två och tre deltagit. Genom enkätundersökningar och klassrumsobservationer kommer elever och lärare till tals i studien, vilket ger en bild av hur de uppfattar arbetet med pedagogisk närläsning. Resultat av studien granskas utifrån ett genusperspektiv. 

Resultatet av studien visar att elever och lärare i stort anser att materialet är anpassat för elever på gymnasienivå, och att materialet både utmanar elevernas läsförståelse samt får dem att resonera kring frågor som rör klasskillnader och jämställdhet i samhället, men även könsnormer och självständighet. I materialet finns frågeställningar som rör könsnormer, exempelvis synen på kvinnan, men detta var inte teman eller budskap som aktualiserades av eleverna i denna undersökning. Genusperspektivet belystes däremot som ett relevant tema utifrån ett lärarperspektiv. 

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate the view on pedagogical “close reading” as a method based on the material at the website of Litteraturbanken. The subjects/items I have chosen to use in my text analysis is an extract from Selma Lagerlöfs novel “Kejsarn av Portugallien”, chapter “The red dress”. The study have been conducted in classes connected to the upper secondary school. In other words, six upper secondary school classes which are studying the courses Swedish one, two and three have taken part. The students and the teachers were able to voice their opinions through the surveys and through classroom observations, which will give a picture of how they perceive pedagogical “close reading”. The result will be investigated from a gender perspective.

 

The result of the study shows that both teachers and students think the material is suited for students reading at an upper secondary school level. It also shows that the material both challenged students’ reading comprehension, as well as it helps them discuss questions such as class differences, equality within society and also gender norms and independency. There were questions in the material which was evolved around gender norms, for example the view on women, but this was neither a theme nor a question raised by the students in this study. The gender perspective was however highlighted as a relevant theme from a teacher’s perspective.
