Konstruktion av det reella talsystemet
2001 (Swedish)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [sv]

The construction of the real number system is based on the rational number system and an intuitive concept of the real number system. The main tool in this construction is the concept of “Cauchy sequence”. Every real number is defined to be the limit of a Cauchy sequence of rationals. The term “Cauchy sequence” is also used in order to define other vital properties of the real number system such as order and completeness etc.
