Utredning av störningar i elnät
2002 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (professional degree)Student thesis
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This engineering degree project was performed at the paper mill of StoraEnso at Skoghall. It deals with short voltage drops caused by switching operations in the feeding electric grid during lightning storms. In order to find out how an incoming voltage drop influences the internal grid of the Skoghall plant, I have performed simulations with the computer program Simpow from ABB. Diagrams from the simulations show the shape and duration of the voltage drops at the 130 kV and 10 kV levels (cf. figures 6-15). The internal grid of the Skoghall plant comprises nine transformers, two synchronous generators and two synchronous motors. As expected, the voltage drops in the internal grid are smaller that the voltage drop on the incoming line. This is due to the fact that the synchronous machines of the internal grid help support the voltage.
