The impact of stress and relaxation on errors in compositions in english written by swedish university students
2001 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]

In this paper, the question whether stress and relaxation have an impact on errors or not is investigated. The material is taken from a prevoius study which explored whether stress and relaxation affected creativity in writing. Sixty compositions written in English by Swedish university students were used. Errors were calculated and divided up in three main categories: spelling errors, word choice errors and grammatical errors. The results of this investigation showed that spelling errors were the most frequent type of errors. Further, stress had a somewhat positive effect on errors since the compositions written by the stress group contained fewer errors.
