Spelar storleken någon roll?
2005 (Swedish)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]

The last couple of years there have been a tremendous increase in mutual fund savings. December 2000, all fund savings in Sweden totalled 900 billion SEK. Due to the great number of investors we thought an analysis between small and large fund investors based on how much capital they hold could be interesting. This thesis discusses fund managers and if there is a relationship between large capital assets and profit. We have used a quantitative method of investigation because of our focus on a great set of data. Our information has been gathered from Internet, SIX and EcoWin. We have analysed 61 mutual funds during a five-year period whereof 28 are represented by Handelsbanken, SEB, Nordbanken and Föreningssparbanken. The other funds originate from MerrilLynch, Morgan Stanley, Morgan Flemming, Fidelity and Invesco, which are all big international investment banks. CAPM, capital asset pricing model and three evaluation models based on CAPM, Jensen, Treynor and Sharpe index models, form the base for our investigation. These are the mostly used models in the finance business to evaluate mutual funds today. Our results point in the direction that fund managers with a bigger portfolio should make more money. However, our results are difficult to generalize because of the problem in comparing different funds with focus on different markets.
