2003 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]

In the middle of the 1960’s one began to plan a tempered bathe in Karlstad. The result was that the tempered bathe in Örsholmen were built. In the year 1970 the establishment was ready for opening and in the next year the bathe-camp for children were moved from Bomstad to Örsholmen. In the end of the 1970’s the Swedish welfare began to fall short which also had serious consequences for the bathe of Örsholmen. In the beginning of the 1980’s the first proposals about closing were submitted when the Swedish compact of the local authority incited all the local authorities in Sweden to effect economies or provide space for new activities throughout reconsider existing activities in favour of other activities which in that time were considered more important. At that time the local authority of Karlstad suffered of bad economy. At once hagglings of provisions were accomplished for the bathe of Örsholmen. This gave rise to the fact that the establishment could not be repaired in that rate which was necessary for the bathe not go to ruin. Besides the establishment managed to get along somehow with the help of gas instead of oil and because of that the bathe had problems to keep a nice temperature in the water. “Karlstads simsällskap” carried on the establishment for some years and afterwards the local authority of Karlstad took the charge of the management again. Along with the wishes of the politicians the bathe of Örsholmen went to meet a long and painful death. The death-blow came in the year 1990 when the decision was token to liquidate the establishment. After that it became the residence for “fotbollsklubben Karlstad”. This club got a provision of more than 500 000 Swedish crowns from the local authority of Karlstad. At the same time a new bathe was planned at Kronoparken which cost the local authority of Karlstad more than six millions in Swedish crowns.
