Hemsökta rum - om filmens spöklika egenskaper och gestalterna som befolkar den
2003 (Swedish)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]

Visual technology have allways been used too conjure up the fantastic. In the late 19th century stage magicians and spiritistic societys used the latest visual technology too trick their audiences. The ghosts appering on stage and photo soon showed up in the movies in the form of dubbelexposed human shapes. Today we use computer animation to manufacture the movie ghost, but also the film narrative without the use of any special effects what so ever. There seems to be two conventions in portraing ghosts nowdays, one that points towards the fantastic and one that points to the realistic. This work is attempting to discuss the different aspects of theese different ghosts and the medium in wich they appear. Case studies of William Malones HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL and Alejandro Anemabars THE OTHERS flesh out the discussion and the conclusions I make.
