: Which purposes do teachers describe that they have for experiment in science class? (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to explore in which science subject’s teachers describes that the students in grades 1-6 experiment and for which purpose. The survey is based on four interviews with science teachers in grades 1-6. The analysis has been based on a qualitative content analysis and then compared with previous research on the subject. The results show that teachers often work in biology because they feel a security in working in areas linked to biology. They describe that with the increased interest and curiosity of students, they want to improve knowledge of and attitude to science. The study shows a need for further research on the importance of students need for access to the entire process at the laboratory work.
