Self-efficacy, self-estimated aggressiveness and self-estimated risk-taking in traffic based on self-assessments (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between their self-efficacy and aggressiveness in traffic and betweenself-efficacy and risk taking in traffic. An anonymous questionnaire survey was used with the self-assessments of self-efficacy scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), driving anger scale (Deffenbacher, Lynch & Oetting, 1994) and self-composed questions about risk taking. The survey was posted on a site for car enthusiasts people, Garaget.org where a total of 133 participants completed the questionnaire, mostly men. The results showed a weak negative correlation between self-efficacy and risk taking. The conclusion on the basis of self-estimation is that a relationship exists, albeit a weak one.
