Maskulinitet förkroppsligad : En Studie av Maskulinitet i Heavy Metal (Swedish)
In this essay I examine the tradition of constructing masculinity in heavy metal music, and how heavy metal bands use literature including themes such as war, dying, suffering and violence to enhance the projection of masculinity. Bands incorporate this kind of literature to inspire lyrics, imagery, musical production and performance. The bands and songs analyzed in depth are “The Trooper” by Iron Maiden, “...For Victory” by Bolt Thrower and “One” by Metallica. These bands all project masculinity through the themes and literature they have based their songs on in different ways, but the outcome is a heightened masculinity.
