Digital tools in mathematics : A survey about how teachers integrate digital tools in mathematics education (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Digital tools are getting increasingly widespread in our everyday lives as well as in school. How-ever, according to the national agency for education in Sweden, digital tools are rarely used to develop the mathematics education. With a survey, I investigated how teachers integrate digital tools in mathematics education and if the teachers’ perceived knowledge affects the integration in some way. With help from the TPACK framework I analyzed the results from 97 respondents. The results showed that teachers who experience good knowledge tend to vary their teaching using digital tools more than teachers who appreciated their skills as inadequate. The most common area of use for digital tools in mathematics is skills training, class review and visual-ization. The study suggests that there is a need for education in how to use digital tools in the education in order to be able to integrate digital tools in a favorable manner.
