Jag vill, Jag vågar, jag kan - om elevers motivation att lära i den senare delen av grundskolan
2005 (Svenska)Självständigt arbete på grundnivå (yrkesexamen)Studentuppsats (Examensarbete)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this work is to find out what students in the latter years of primary school think about what are motivating them, and what it is that makes them want to learn. I also want to have an answer to what students think that I, as a teacher, can do to motivate and inspire them to feel the urge and the joy of learning new things. This work contains an empiric investigation in the form of interviews with twelve students in the 9:th grade, where I’m looking for answers to my questions. The result shows that what is motivating students the most, is when the teacher has a positive attitude and is serious about his/her subject. A future goal like education and profession are also motivating factors. The subject itself is important for some while others want to learn as much as possible. To have friends and spending time with these is another important aspect, which keep those who do not enjoy being in school motivated. Some students can affect their own attitude, while thinking, ” I want to, I will, I can ” learn this. Furthermore, the interviews and the study of literature show that humour and joy are factors, which make students eager to learn in school. To have fun together enriches every day school.
