Abstract [en]

The Mathematic school called Logos was started in Bengtsfors 1996, by the math teacher Sten Rydh. In this school, four- and five year olds get to meet early mathematic challenges. The education is in a playful way based on the Suzukimethod. The purpose of this study is to follow up some students, who has started there mathematic knowledge acquire in early age, at the mathematic school of Logos. This to se how it later worked in the traditional school. Did they thought that the teachers kept on developing, motivate and stimulate them trough the years, do they still have the interest for mathematics? Through this study, a questionnaire to teachers, literature studies, conversation with Sten Rydh and the governments directive to the mathematicdelegation, I have approached my scientific questions: Shall we start earlier with procurement of knowledge to children? Do we need another view and approach when it comes to mathematic learning in school? How shall we change the teaching in mathematic to get it more variable? The students that I have followed means that there interest for mathematics has increased through there early education at Logos. Several of the students (69 %) meant that the mathematics in the junior- and intermediate level of compulsory school was easy and of these students 44 % thought that mathematics at this level where boring. Mathematic teaching is controlled by textbooks, and the need of pedagogical renewal is large.
